The seven sacraments

Through the seven sacraments, Christ himself acts in his Church. In them he gives us new birth, strengthens us with his Spirit, feeds us with his own Body and Blood, forgives our sins, raises up the sick, and sanctifies those called to Holy Orders and Matrimony.

Sacraments of initiation

Baptism is the beginning of life in Christ and entry into the Church. Confirmation strengthens the baptized through the gift of the Holy Spirit. In the Eucharist, the source and summit of the Christian life, we share in Christ’s sacrifice and receive him: Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity.

Parents seeking preparation for their children should contact our Faith Formation director. Adults who are exploring Catholic faith or have not completed initiation are invited to begin a conversation about OCIA.

Sacraments of healing

In Penance, also called Confession or Reconciliation, Christ forgives sins committed after Baptism and restores us to grace through the absolution of the priest. You may attend a scheduled confession or ask the office about an appointment. If it has been a long time, the priest can guide you.

The Anointing of the Sick brings the Church’s prayer and Christ’s strengthening grace to those facing serious illness or the frailty of age. Please ask early rather than waiting until a crisis.

Sacraments at the service of communion

In Holy Matrimony, a baptized man and woman bind themselves in a faithful, fruitful, and lifelong covenant that signifies the union of Christ and his Church. Contact the parish early in your engagement to discuss preparation before finalizing arrangements.

Through Holy Orders, bishops, priests, and deacons are ordained for service in the Church. Those discerning a vocation are welcome to speak with a priest.

Where to begin

You do not have to know every requirement before contacting us. Tell us which sacrament you are seeking and a little about your circumstances. The parish will explain the current preparation, records, and next steps. Contact the office for help, and use worship times for scheduled celebrations.
